Children and teens are facing more stress and pressure than ever before. For many it becomes overwhelming and too much to navigate alone. You may feel isolated and fearful about how to help your child and your family. At PPCD, our goal is to help you and your family work through times of difficulty and develop strategies that can be used by the entire family to create more peace and support in the home.
Therapy can help reduce conflicts in the family and help your child learn to cope with difficult times and situations. As children grow and begin to form their own identities, they face peer pressure, physical changes, fluctuating emotion, school stress, insecurity, and conflict. If left untreated, these emotions can become destructive over time.
Major life events or traumatic events such as death, divorce, abuse, violence, teen pregnancy, or changes in the family structure can trigger difficult emotions and behavioral issues. In these situations, it’s extremely important that your child has an outlet to process the experiences and emotions so they can heal.
Through our counseling, root causes will be explored so that realistic goals can be set for the individual and the family. At PPCD, we structure our sessions based on the needs of your family. Parents may be involved in the sessions directly or a separate session may be recommended. In some circumstance, your child’s therapist may recommend meeting with one or both parents to examine what factors might be contributing to your child’s difficulties.
We specialize in treatment for the following:
- Trauma Therapy
